Applications will be required for 2022 for the Senior Freeze Exemption, Disabled Persons’ Exemption and Disabled Veterans’ Exemption. For the past two years, legislation was passed that allowed recipients to continue to receive the exemptions without reapplying.
We do not anticipate such legislation this year. Applications will be mailed in mid-to-late May to all who received the exemptions for 2021.
Because we will have an extremely high volume of applicants, we will be taking appointments to complete the applications. Please call my office to make an appointment after you receive your application in the mail. If you are a new applicant, please call the office in (or after) late May to schedule an appointment.
The annual application deadline for the Senior Freeze Exemption is October 1st.
As a reminder, the Senior Freeze Exemption is available to seniors who are 65 and older in 2022, who owned and occupied the property on January 1, 2021, and January 1, 2022, with a total household income of $65,000 or less.
Call my office at (630)231-8900 if you have any questions.
