My staff and I completed our work on the 2024 assessments on September 13, 2024. The Supervisor of Assessments published the Equalization Notice in the Examiner Newspapers on October 23, 2024. Assessment notices were mailed on October 22, 2024, to property owners whose assessments received changes before the equalization factor was applied.
Wayne Township assessments received an equalization factor of 1.1022. This factor is due to the rapidly increasing sale prices during the past three years. Because the equalization factor was applied to all properties, it will not cause taxes to increase. Taxes increase when taxing bodies increase their levies.
The final date to file an assessment appeal for 2024 is November 22, 2024. To appeal your assessment, you must either provide evidence that your assessed value, multiplied by three, is higher than the market value of your property as of January 1, 2024, or provide evidence that your property is not assessed uniformly with similar properties in your area.
Please call my office if you have questions about your 2024 assessment. My staff will be happy to assist you.
